I had the opportunity over the summer to go to the Dominican
Republic and it was a very influential time. This was one of the things that most
kids would want to take part of and I was lucky enough to have gotten to do
such an awesome experience as this was.
It was very eye opening to see the difference from United States to the
Dominican Republic. The plumbing couldn’t handle toilet paper so we had to
throw our toilet paper into the garbage cans. The food was way spicier than
anything that I have ever ate in America. The stop signs were barely used they
would honk their horns and they would be through the intersections before you
even knew that they were going to be moving.
The pollution on the Ocean was pretty bad considering there was a sewage
river that went right pat the ocean. The
kids there were better dressed than Americans.
The normal people on the street that you saw walking were very well
dressed as well. I didn’t see very many overweight people so you could say that
there obesity rate is way lower than the American obesity rate. There were a lot of people that were walking
everywhere than what you see in America.
They have some different food
than America, they have plantains which are a mix between potatoes and bananas
and I didn’t think they were very good but other people might have different
ideas about that. They very rarely eat beef, I ate mostly
chicken and rice and plantains. But some things that I learned when I was over
there most of America should probably apply to Americans lives. They were very
respectful to everyone most of all the time unlike Americans being rude to
their parents most of the time.
